Summer is the time for classic, vintage and historic car shows all over the country. Florence, Oregon is no exception and has its share of them during the summer months. However, July 1, 2017, there is an extra special ‘cruise in’ of sorts. Held at the Florence Municipal Airport, this one combines cruisers of all kinds including vintage airplanes and cars, military vehicles and British cars.
From 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. all of the above will be here for the viewing. This event is open to all show worthy cars and trucks but is limited to 100 total vehicle entries. Pre-registration fee for participants is $20.00 and $25.00 on the day of the show. Best to get your space early because this is a popular event. Dash plaques will be given to the 100 entrants and there will be 25 awards handed out.
The City of Florence and the Three Rivers Casino Resort are sponsoring the appearance of an SDB Dauntless, World War II Dive Bomber. And you can ride in this beauty. Rides will be available throughout the day. One ride will be raffled off and tickets for that are $5.00 each available at the Florence Chamber Visitor’s Center and other locations.
This event includes displays by the Central Oregon Coast Military Vehicle Group and the Central Oregon Coast British Car Club with 15 to 20 vehicles each.
The Central Oregon Coast Military Vehicle Group will be providing “Convoys” all day long with rides in vintage military vehicles up and down the runway. So you also have the opportunity to take a vintage military ride! For free!
Back In Time will provide live music from the 50’s and 60’s and the Florence Dance Guild will be performing twice throughout the day. Over 20 local and regional Not For Profits will be involved on the grounds with displays.
If you are a vendor, you are welcome to come and set up and participate. There will be food to purchase from the Florence-Siuslaw Lions Club and the Ada Grange. There is no charge to attend, however, the High School Wresting team is asking for donations of $2.00 per car load.
Florence is just 38 miles from www.umpquahaven.com and makes an easy day trip for this event. Come visit us or set a spell and enjoy all that the Oregon Coast has to offer from here.
Cool!
